Let's talk foundations.
When it comes to health, there are 5 main foundational components we need to think about. They are: Nutrition, Stress Management, Sleep, Daily Activity, and Mindset.
I believe that these are the 5 things that EVERYONE must prioritize if they want to be healthy. And I should clarify - when I say healthy, I mean truly healthy. Not just what you look like or what the scale says. But how you feel, your mood and energy, your pain levels (hopefully lack-there-of), and your blood work. These are the habits that truly move the needle within your body and determine if it works as it should or not.
What's cool about these 5 things are that they are essentially habit based. Meaning you do these things every day, it's just a matter if what you do is supportive of your health or not. For example, we all eat every day, we all have stress every day, we all sleep every day, etc. So these aren't even new concepts that we need to learn and incorporate into our busy lives, they are already there. We just need to understand how to make them work for our health instead of against our health.
And that really gets down to the crux of the health issue and our ultimate goal of being fit for life - these things aren't secrets and they aren't rocket science. Sure you might learn a thing or two as I break each habit down in depth, but you already understand that you need to eat well, sleep well, and move your body. This isn't rocket science. So why is it so hard? Why are 7 out of 10 adults in America overweight?
Well that gets into the mindset component. How do we make sure the actions we take on a daily basis align with the intentions we set in our minds? That is really the issue that we need to figure out, and it's what I'll help with as we get deeper and deeper into these foundational habits.
Tomorrow we begin, and we'll focus on the most important of them all: nutrition. I hope you're as excited as I am :)
